Thunder, lightning, ice and snow! Is this an April Fools joke?
Updated: Dec 9, 2020
I know South Dakota is known for it's long winters, but I truly thought spring was upon us!
It is April 2nd and we are getting thunder, lightning, ice and snow. I generally love the snow. At this time of the year, however, I am ready for spring. Especially with the quarantine going on, it would be rather nice to get outside with our new puppy to enjoy some nice sunshine and fresh air. Wishful thinking!
Yes, we just got a new puppy! We named him Rudolf (Rudy) for short. Rudy is a goldendoodle. Red in color, with a white strip on his chest. I am not sure what I was thinking when I thought it would be a good idea to get a brand new puppy with my 18 month old daughter, ha! Rudy is adorable and of course so is my daughter, but together, they are giving me a run for my money and sanity. We decided to begin potty training our daughter last month and so now we are in the midst of potty training an 18 month old and a new puppy. Fun stuff!
What have you all been doing to keep yourselves and family's busy during this COVID-19 pandemic?! Our lives haven't changed a whole lot here since the pandemic started. Things are a bit different for my daughter and I, but quite the same for my husband. Farmers and ranchers don't get to stop, well, ever. During this time, I am extremely thankful for all those farmers and ranchers out there working to put food in our grocery stores and tables! We live about an hour away from the nearest town with a Target, Walmart, and grocery stores. Before the pandemic started we were participating in weekly activities to keep my daughter entertained. Two of her favorites were gymnastics, and story time at the library. Obviously those activities have been halted. I myself am a volleyball club coach and our season has also been postponed until further notice. So to keep busy we have been making almost daily trips to my grandparents house (they live right across the street) and many drive through dairy queen runs for blizzards :). This baby in my tummy loves sweets! My favorite blizzard has to be vanilla with cookie dough and strawberries. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. In the evenings my husband and I were catching up on the most recent, and unfortunately last season, of Schitt's Creek. It is quite possibly one of our favorite shows at the moment. We are sad for it to be ending. Other shows we got into together were Last Man Standing, Scandal, and New Girl. We are taking all recommendations for more!
If you have gotten this far, thank you! I hope this blog provides to be an entertaining place to learn about a handful of amazing ranch woman and their lives on the ranch! Stay tuned for the next post by one of our featured wives!
